Tips On How To Swing A Golf Club

The question of how to swing a golf club is as eternal as the game itself, and the level of science that has gone into the research can be frightening. Investigations have been made into the optimum angles, power and stance for the swing. When researchers consider biomechanics, there are so many different muscles of the body involved in the swing that the possibilities and variations are almost endless.

In fact it is all of the variations thrown up by the research aspect of swinging a club which make most people think it is a lot harder than it actually is.

If you stand up, and pretend with your two arms that you are hitting a baseball, you have pretty much mastered there and then the art of swinging a golf club. All you need to do is make simple adjustments to that to take into account the fact that the ball is set on the ground instead of coming at you through the air, and you are on your way.

Although people focus on the arms here, in fact if you imagine that you are turning your back on the ball, you will find your arms naturally following along. This turning of the back also means you are generating the torque required to get the speed into the club.

As for the downswing, you simply need to let gravity take its course! If you try and force your arms down, you will tighten your arm muscles when they should be relaxed, so again imagine the turn as coming from your back. Focusing on the back instead of the arms is often the key to correcting an inaccurate swing.

For the strike and follow through, do not imagine that you are hitting the ball. Imagine that it is just another practice swing, and the ball just happens to be in the way. Again this will help to keep your arms relaxed, and not trying to force power behind the ball.

This swing by this stage will have your arms automatically following through. Keep your head down when the ball has gone, and wait for your arms to push your head upwards. Keep the back loose and flexible.

If you follow these tips on how to swing a golf club, you will find that with less effort, you actually get a better result and a better round.
